magnification lenses
All procedures are performed with high powered magnification. This allows for better vision, more precise execution of restorative and surgical procedures and ultimately better results for the patient. By Designs For Vision Tel: 1.800. 345.4009

In the real world ( private practice ) doing dental procedures on a regular basis, being reimbursed a fair fee and expecting successful outcomes is a stressful and challenging goal.
A dentist must learn to be a businessman, psychologist and humanitarian along with an expert diagnostician and therapist.
These case studies are designed to present in an unedited manner the real world situations that are routinely encountered in private practice. Please realize that limited time documentation of a case may not be a fair appraisal of the long term success of certain procedures ( and guarantees of success in medical procedures are rarely given ).
Hopefully, by exposing and analyzing these cases the practitioner will be comforted in knowing that we are not infallible and as human beings, pursuing noble goals is a worthwhile endeavor.

Old fashioned dentistry?

I had my teeth cleaned recently by the hygienist at the dentist upstairs. We were talking about the great expansion and proliferation of implant dentistry. She mentioned that a dentist she worked with was "old fashion" in that he didn't do a lot of implant dentistry but saved natural teeth when he could. This struck me as odd because it equates old fashioned with less sophisticated or obsolete dental therapy. Implant therapy involves surgery, some degree of morbidity, and most times it is very expensive. When indicated (when it is not possible to restore a natural tooth) and if performed properly, it is a valuable means of restoring a fixed dentition. Dentists that choose to attempt to save a natural tooth rather than resort to implant therapy are not old fashioned. They are smart, empathetic, and considerate of what is best for their patients.
