Fraudulent Dental Diagnosis

This young lady’s mother called my office and asked me if I would examine her daughter who would be coming down from New York City. The mother was concerned regarding the daughter having visited a New York high end dentist. The dentist told the daughter that she had six cavities and the cost would be over $3,000.00 to restore.

The radiographs with the arrows were sent to the patient’s mother (a dental hygienist) indicating areas of decay. I did not see decay on these X-rays. I took new X-rays and still did not see decay.

This is an X-ray from another patient showing definitive decay. In contrast to the previous X-rays, there is no doubt concerning the diagnosis.
